12 Days To Sahara And Imperial Cities From Casablanca

 

Day 1: Full day exploring Casablanca

You willĀ travel throughĀ the historical heritage ofĀ Morocco’sĀ largest cityĀ on this tour. WeĀ will be able to explore someĀ of theĀ places in the cityĀ suchĀ as Hassan II,Ā the largest mosque, theĀ United Nations Palace and theĀ Couscous “Corric Road”Ā beforeĀ returningĀ to the hotel forĀ the night.

Day 2: Casablanca ā€“ Rabat

After breakfast, weĀ begin our secondĀ dayĀ exploringĀ the capital of Morocco. FirstĀ stepsĀ inĀ theĀ Kasbah of Oudaias, the oldest place in Rabat withĀ exceptional panoramas, beautiful views of the “Bu Regrag”Ā river and theĀ AtlanticĀ Ocean. The secondĀ stopĀ in Rabat isĀ theĀ Hassan TowerĀ “Tower Hassan”Ā andĀ the Mausoleum,Ā anĀ unfinishedĀ mosqueĀ whose construction was initiatedĀ byĀ Yacoub Al-Mansour,Ā leaderĀ of the “Al Mohads”.Ā The eveningĀ isĀ free toĀ enjoy.

Day 3: Rabat ā€“ Meknes ā€“ Volubilis ā€“ Fez.

In the morning,Ā our staff willĀ welcomeĀ youĀ at theĀ receptionĀ and drive you to Meknes,Ā anotherĀ imperial city.Ā In Meknes, we will visit Moulay IsmailĀ Ruins,Ā Moulay Ismail Mausoleum,Ā Old Wheat Store, Royal Palace,Ā Bab ElĀ Mansour GateĀ and SwaniĀ Basin etc. We will goĀ to volubilis or Walili inĀ Berber,Ā aĀ partiallyĀ excavated Berber RomanĀ siteĀ in Morocco near the city of Meknes, then we will continue toĀ Fez. Overnight atĀ your hotel orĀ riad.

Day 4: Full Day Exploring FES

AfterĀ breakfast in yourĀ riad the next morning,Ā you willĀ embark on a discovery tourĀ of theĀ medinaĀ where you will visit many hiddenĀ gems knownĀ onlyĀ to local residents. Fez has beenĀ the capital of Morocco forĀ overĀ 350 years and is home to AlĀ Karaouine University,Ā the oldestĀ continuouslyĀ operating university in the world. YourĀ guideĀ will take you toĀ the tomb ofĀ MoulayĀ Idris,Ā the NejjarineĀ fountainĀ and theĀ tannery.Ā AfterĀ lunch,Ā you will alsoĀ visitĀ theĀ facadeĀ of the Royal Palace andĀ crossĀ the famous Jewish quarterĀ “Mellah”,Ā where you will have theĀ opportunityĀ to visit one of the fewĀ remainingĀ synagogues in Morocco. YourĀ trip to FezĀ includes a short visit to the famous ceramic factory,Ā before enjoyingĀ aĀ magnificentĀ panoramic viewĀ ofĀ theĀ entire Fez medina. Night inĀ your riad.

DAY 5: FES ā€“ AZROU ā€“ MIDELT ā€“ ZIZ VALLEY ā€“ MERZOUGA DESERT

After breakfast, we will drive to Ifrane andĀ Azrou, the “Switzerland of Morocco” viaĀ the Middle AtlasĀ mountains “the Col de TiziĀ nĀ t’lghamt”.Ā DuringĀ theĀ trip, we will stopĀ at many placesĀ to takeĀ photosĀ and have lunch inĀ Midert,Ā then weĀ willĀ continueĀ to visit theĀ ZizĀ Valley, theĀ city of Errachidia, Erfoud, afterĀ reachingĀ the heart ofĀ theĀ SaharaĀ desert in Morocco, Merzouga thereĀ you haveĀ a littleĀ restĀ andĀ thenĀ get onĀ yourĀ camel, go deep intoĀ the desert. During our camelĀ trek,Ā we willĀ seeĀ the sunset betweenĀ theĀ dunes.Ā DeliciousĀ dinnerĀ at theĀ SaharaĀ desert camp,Ā we will enjoyĀ tonightĀ inĀ aĀ desertĀ tent, under clear skies and stars,Ā BerberĀ drums. Day 6: Sahara day – Merzouga – Nomads – GNAWA music.

EarlyĀ in the morning,Ā your camelĀ driverĀ will wakeĀ youĀ up toĀ admireĀ the sunrise. After breakfast,Ā returnĀ to theĀ hotel by camel.Ā Here we will take youĀ to exploreĀ theĀ region,Ā visiting the village ofĀ Khamlia, which originally housedĀ theĀ Sultan’s slaves… learn aboutĀ their music andĀ way of life. We canĀ also visitĀ Berber nomadic tentsĀ where many Berber handicrafts areĀ cheaperĀ than in big cities. HereĀ you canĀ spend the night inĀ aĀ hotel orĀ a riad.

Day 7: MERZOUGA ā€“ RISSANI ā€“ TODRA GORGES ā€“ DADES VALLEY

The nextĀ morning.Ā During your tripĀ to Rissani, we will visit theĀ market of Rissani,Ā a traditional townĀ thatĀ was theĀ birthplaceĀ of the ruling familyĀ ofĀ Morocco andĀ aĀ meeting placeĀ for trade caravans from Timbuktu toĀ Mali. Here you will seeĀ many hoodedĀ men andĀ veiledĀ womenĀ as you continue towards theĀ TodraĀ Gorge –Ā theĀ highest andĀ narrowestĀ canyonĀ in Morocco. After lunch in the heart of theĀ canyon, we crossĀ the DadesĀ ValleyĀ whereĀ you willĀ see majesticĀ sandcastlesĀ and amazing rock formationsĀ called “monkeys”. Accommodation for the nightĀ will be in aĀ luxuryĀ hotel overlooking the DadesĀ Valley.

Day 8: Dades Valley ā€“ KASBAH AMRIDIL ā€“ Castle of Skoura palm trees ā€“ Ouarzazate

After breakfastĀ atĀ theĀ hotel, we crossĀ the Dades ValleyĀ toĀ Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. TheĀ roadĀ throughĀ theĀ Dades Valley is theĀ pathĀ ofĀ aĀ thousandĀ kasbahs – offering countlessĀ opportunities to take some ofĀ the best photos ofĀ your trip.Ā We stoppedĀ at Kalaat Mgouna,Ā the “City of Roses”, to buy someĀ roseĀ water,Ā which willĀ keepĀ yourĀ sheets scentedĀ long after yourĀ travels.Ā Continue to Ouarzazate via Amridil Kasbah, one of the last BerberĀ rulers ofĀ the 18th century, nowĀ home to many Glaouis. InĀ theĀ eveningĀ you will stop in Ouarzazate.

DAY 9: OUARZAZATE ā€“ AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH ā€“ TIZI N’TICHKA PAS ā€“ MARRAKECH

After breakfastĀ at theĀ hotel or riad we continue our journey to the ksar (fortified village) Ait BenĀ Haddou, thereĀ weĀ seeĀ the famous Kasbah (declaredĀ a UNESCOĀ World Heritage Site in 1986). Famous filmsĀ including “Gladiator”, “The Obelisk”, “The Mummy”, “The Jewel of the Nile”, Penelope Cruz’s SaharaĀ have been shotĀ onĀ this spectacularĀ stage…Ā After visiting theĀ Casbah, we will goĀ toĀ Marrakech andĀ seeĀ us passĀ Tizi NtichkaĀ whose 2260m areĀ the highest point in our country.Ā We willĀ enjoyĀ theĀ beautifulĀ sceneryĀ from theĀ observation decks alongĀ the way andĀ stopĀ to takeĀ photosĀ of theĀ Berber villages before checking into a riad inside the medina in the late afternoon. Day 10: To Essaouira

On the secondĀ morning, you willĀ begin your journeyĀ to the coastalĀ townĀ of Essaouira.Ā ArriveĀ there after aboutĀ 2.5 hoursĀ driveĀ andĀ start exploring the city. Walk through theĀ narrow streetsĀ of the medina andĀ admireĀ hundreds of handicrafts.Ā The “Wind City”Ā attracts surfers from all over the world. EssaouiraĀ has been home toĀ many civilizationsĀ –Ā including the PortugueseĀ occupationĀ whichĀ influencedĀ much of its architectureĀ – butĀ it remains aĀ cityĀ withĀ a richĀ history.Ā It is also considered the “PearlĀ ofĀ the Atlantic” of Morocco due toĀ itsĀ size, distinctiveĀ blue doors and washedĀ walls.Ā You will also visitĀ a women’s cooperative for arganĀ oil. After breakfastĀ atĀ theĀ Riad,Ā you willĀ visitĀ sitesĀ ofĀ historical and culturalĀ significance,Ā including the KoutoubiaĀ Menaret,Ā the SaadianĀ Tombs,Ā theĀ magnificent BahiaĀ Palace and the BenĀ Yusuf Koranic School .Ā Finally, end the morningĀ with a strollĀ through theĀ alleys of theĀ medinaĀ ā€“Ā a chance to admire all the different artisansĀ working onĀ theirĀ craftĀ beforeĀ heading toĀ the famous Jamaa El FnaĀ square. Have lunch inĀ a restaurant near the square, thenĀ visit the Majorelle GardensĀ in the afternoon andĀ takeĀ a short tourĀ ofĀ GuelizĀ – theĀ new city of Marrakech. AfterĀ dinner,Ā youĀ can chooseĀ toĀ strollĀ through theĀ square, where there areĀ magicians,Ā storytellers, tooth pullersĀ and foodĀ vendors. NightĀ in your riad.

Day 12: Marrakech ā€“ Casablanca Airport

After breakfast in your riad, we willĀ transferĀ you to Casablanca airport for yourĀ return flight. endĀ of service
